TCP at HAWKINS! TCP stands for Total Commando Pride! TCP represents a new bullying prevention program at HMS this year. Grade level kick-offs were held on Tuesday, Aug. 17. Students who want to participate in bullying prevention at HMS signed posters during lunch to show their support of a No Bullying school. Class meetings are held each Friday to learn more about bullying prevention. HMS WEBSITE Please visit our website http://hms.sumnerschools.org for HMS information! Teachers often use email as a communication link with parents as well. PARENT CONTACT INFORMATION It is extremely important for parents to notify the office to update information needed to contact you in case of an emergency. This includes any home, work, and/or cell number changes. You may update this information on the Parent Portal or by calling the office. Monies raised will be used to purchase various technology items needed for the school. LABOR DAY School will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, September 6th. IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL 7TH GRADERS! The State of TN Dept. of Health is now requiring all 7th graders have DTaP and Varicella boosters by October 1st, 2010. An updated immunization form must be on file in to the office to show proof of immunizations by that date for your child to attend school. PARENT CONFERENCES Parent conferences will be held Thursday, September 30th. There will be no school for students Thursday or Friday of that week and the following week of October 4th will be SCS’s Fall Break! HMS PEP RALLY There will be Pep Rally on Sept. 28th. Students should wear their school colors and show their school spirit. Spirit points will be given to the grade levels showing the most spirit. Students should wear clothing that meets our school dress code. These pictures will be published in our school yearbook. Coach Stamps will be selling HMS t-shirts during lunch soon after Labor Day. There will be three designs to choose from and the cost for each shirt will be $12.00. HMS HAT DAY Hat Day will be Tuesday, September 21st. Students who pay $1.00 may wear their favorite hat! Proceeds will be donated to Heavenly Hats. PROGRESS REPORTS Progress reports will be sent home with students on Tuesday, September 7th for the 1st nine weeks. However, remember you can access Parent Portal grade book any time! FALL FUNDRAISER HMS Fall Fundraiser ends on Thursday, October 2nd. We truly appreciate the support you show our school by participating in this brochure sale! PLEASE HELP! FREE AND SIMPLE HMS FUNDRAISERS Hawkins has several ongoing fundraisers which require little effort and no cash! These fundraisers support funding for many programs in our school. You can easily show your support of our school by sending in the following items: Box Tops for Education points Campbell’s and Tyson labels Printer Ink & Toner Cartridges Newspaper/Magazines (The bins are located behind the school) Thank you in advance for your help with these items! Hawkins FCA students, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will lead “See You at the Pole” on Wed., Sept. 22nd at 7:00 a.m. by the flagpole at the front of the building. Students, faculty, and parents are welcome to spend time in prayer for our nation and our school.
